Lineshape analysis of stimulated Raman spectra of the near-nozzle region of free jet expansions

چکیده
An anomalous lineshape of stimulated Raman spectra obtained from the region very close to the nozzle of supersonic pulsed expansions of nitrogen is presented. High resolution Raman spectra of the Q branch of the fundamental vibration mode of N2 have been recorded from two different nitrogen expansions at T0 = 295 K and P0 = 1.5−3.5 bar, the lasers crossing the jet axis in the range z/D = 0.25 − 1.25, where D is the effective nozzle diameter. The combination of Doppler shifts and strong gradients of density and temperature in the near-nozzle region yield an inhomogeneous broadening and a double-peak structure of the recorded Raman line profiles. The comparation of the experimental results with the simulation of the Raman spectrum from this region provides valuable information about the near-nozzle flow field. The lineshape described here is different from another reported previously in the literature, which is based on a depletion of the density of free molecules on the axis due to condensation.

Examining the cooling rate using impingement of air jet finds a wide application in electronic packaging and micro-scale fluid heat interaction systems, While the prediction of Nusselt profile at low nozzle-target spacing is a big issue. The plot of area average Nusselt number magnitude against the nozzle-target spacing (Z/d) shows a gradual decrement in the profile upto Z/d = 1 and beyond that...
متن کاملMean Velocity and Static Pressure in a Sharp-edge Circular Nozzle Jet
An axisymmetric jet issued from a sharp edged circular convergent nozzle has been studied experimentally in the near field at Reynolds number 5.3x104 to search the saddle shape behavior of mean velocity and the role of mean static pressure in the jet flow. Due to the vena contracta effect the centerline mean velocity of the jet increases about 4.2% of its exit value and corresponding decrease ...

A plane subsonic jet was subjected to periodic oscillations in the near nozzle region by a twin vane system. During excitation, the jet was found to spread significantly and entrain mass much more than its steady counterpart. Time averaged static pressure measured in the flow field with a disc probe exhibited prominent well defined suction regions different from that of a steady jet.

Recorded ground motions in near fault region have completely distinct nature from others that recorded in far field of the fault. Near source outcomes cause much of the seismic energy to appear in a single large and long period pulse at the beginning of the velocity record. Assaluyeh complex is located near the reverse Assaluyeh fault that is a segment of Mountain Front Fault. This complex cont...
متن کاملThe OH stretching spectrum of warm water clusters.
The O-H stretching fundamental spectra of water clusters are well known from cold jet expansions, but their detection in the atmosphere remains elusive. Mild supersonic jet expansions of neat water vapor are used to detect trimers and tetramers with intermediate thermal excitation. Spectra close to the evaporative limit are obtained by interfering neighboring expansion fans in a multi slit nozz...
